About Me
The heart behind my work as a doula

Hey, I’m Rosie
Birth and Postnatal Doula | Antenatal Educator | Breastfeeding Specialist | Babywearing Supporter
I live just outside Penrith with my partner, our two children and our wonderfully chaotic dog, Pepper.
When I’m not adjusting a sling, supporting a feed or chatting about birth, you’ll find me running the fells, baking something sweet, reading with a cuppa, or exploring the Lakes with my family.
My Journey
After university, I worked as an outdoor instructor for many years, supporting people of all ages to build confidence, resilience and connection through time spent in nature. I especially loved travelling on expeditions abroad and watching people discover their own strength in new environments.
When I became pregnant for the first time, my curiosity for learning took a new direction. I found myself diving deep into research about birth, choices and the impact of care, exploring what felt right for me and my family.
Having grown up in a holistic, mindful environment, I already valued balance and intuition, but pregnancy really brought those values into focus.
Although my first birth didn’t go as I’d hoped, I had the incredible support of my doula and partner. That experience taught me how powerful knowledge, preparation and compassionate support can be, even more so when things take a different path. It also opened my eyes to how trauma can be felt both physically and emotionally and that is not NOW baby is born, its often how you FEEL about during the process.
When I was pregnant the second time during covid, I approached this birth feeling empowered, informed and so positive that I went on to have a virginal birth after c-section at home surrounded my supportive midwives, doula and partner.
For 3 years I spent time as a stay-at-home mum, reflecting on how transformative both experiences had been. I realised when I felt the pull back to paid work, that what I wanted most was to support other families in finding that same sense of confidence, connection and calm, no matter how their journey unfolded.
Training & Experience
After my daughter was born in 2018, I fell in love with breastfeeding and babywearing, it taught me how to still be me, while supporting her needs and development. About 9 months in I felt ready to support others so I trained as a breastfeeding peer supporter. Through wanting more and in depts knowledge I cemented my learning to become a Breastfeeding Councillor with the Association of Breastfeeding mothers, volunteering on the national help line in 2025.
Along side this while my children were small I also trained to become a Babywearing Educator in 2022 as I wanted to give up-to-date, safety and education support to those family's.
I trained as a full Birth Doula with Developing Doulas in 2023, cementing all my love and learning to gather and have been supporting families ever since. I’m passionate about continuing my learning, always developing new skills and adapting to the ever changing climate. This keeps me up to date, relevant and connected.
While nobody knows everything, I’m proud to say I know enough wonderful people in and around Cumbria to be able to signpost you to those who have different skill sets, ensuring families always get the right support.
My Approach
My approach as a doula is gentle, family-centred and grounded in evidence.
I believe in continuity of care, being a steady, trusted presence throughout pregnancy, birth and those turbulent early weeks.
My role isn’t to tell you what to do, but to walk beside you as you find your own way, helping you feel confident, informed and connected to your instincts and baby.
My care is always flexible and tailored to you and your family. I’m here to hold you, not the baby and every family I work with reminds me why this work matters so deeply, it’s always such an honour to be invited into these moments of transition, growth and love.

Testimonials
Anna - VBAC
"She helped us at every stage - from writing up the birth plan to supporting us during medical appointments and during the labour itself. Without her I wouldn't have had the strength for a VBAC! Thanks to Rosie this breastfeeding journey has been so much smoother from day 1 and I've been able to exclusively breastfeed for the first time. She even taught us how to use the sling and our baby loves it! Having a doula by our side made the biggest difference when our world fell apart. I couldn't recommend Rosie enough!!!
Amee -Slings
A really wonderful sling library. Rosie was so easy to talk to, listened to our needs and recommended the perfect carrier. Rosie also gave some wonderful breastfeeding advice. A fantastic, non judgemental service, welcomed with a huge smile, at a great location! I would recommend for everyone to drop in.
Amy - Pregancy
Rosie helped me come up with a birth plan before having my baby as I was super anxious about what lay ahead! Even after my first chat with her I felt way more at ease and had so much more faith in myself! She was such a great support in the weeks leading up to my baby being born and has continued to be afterwards with her sling library and even some breast feeding advice. I love how positive and knowledgeable Rosie is! I wish I could bottle her up and give her to my pregnant friends all over the world! She is a huge asset to the local community 💗
Thank you Rosie!!
