My Experience
I have been a breastfeeding supporter for over 7 years.

I initially trained through the UNICEF Baby Friendly Initiative and volunteered at my local children’s centre.

To deepen my knowledge and better support families, I enrolled in the Association of Breastfeeding Mothers Breastfeeding Counsellor course, qualifying in October 2025 after two years of extensive learning​

It might be the most natural, beautiful journey in the world, but that doesn’t make it easy or effortless.
Breastfeeding is a learned skill for both parent and baby. It often takes asking for support, patience, and perseverance.
Some common challenges include:

With support from peer groups, doulas, healthcare professionals, and lactation consultants, these challenges can be overcome. With practice and guidance and confidence boosts breastfeeding can become easier and more confident for both parent and baby.
